Who Are The Highest-Paid MLB Shortstops?

  • Only nine shortstops earn over $15 million.
  • Fransisco Lindor is one of three shortstops earning over $30 million.
Vincent Carchietta-USA TODAY Sports

Considered the de facto captains of the infield, shortstops are some of the most important and highly coveted players in baseball. Of the top ten highest-paid infielders in today’s MLB, half of them are shortstops.

Francisco Lindor is the highest-paid shortstop in 2024. The Mets star makes $34.1 million in average annual contract value, thanks to his superb fielding and offensive skills.

Lindor is one of only three players on the list who have won both the Silver Slugger and Gold Glove awards.

Carlos Correa comes in second on the list, earning $33.3 million per year. The two-time All-Star and Platinum Glove winner signed his 6-year, $200 million contract with the Twins in January 2023, after a separate agreement with the Mets fell through due to injury concerns.

Corey Seager is third on the list. He’s set to earn $32.5 million with the Rangers.

The two-time World Series MVP is one of only three shortstops on the list who earn at least $30 million a year.

Coming in fourth is Trea Turner, who earns $27.3 million. The Silver Slugger award winner signed his mega-deal with the Phillies in 2022 which set him up to earn $300 million over 11 years.

Rounding out the top five is Bobby Witt Jr. at $26.3 million. Playing for the Royals, he made his first All-Star game appearance this season for the AL.
