Warriors superstar and two-time NBA Most Valuable Player, Stephen Curry, leads the pack as the highest-paid NBA point guard. Curry signed a four-year, $215.35 million maximum contract extension with the Warriors in 2021 and makes more than $53 million per year. He’s been the league’s top-paid point guard for four straight seasons.

Following Curry is former #1 overall pick Cade Cunningham, who parlayed his first NBA All-Star appearance and a spot on the All-NBA Third Team in 2025 into a 5-year, $269 million contract worth just a hair less than Curry per year

Nuggets point guard Jamal Murray also made a big jump in pay in 2025, signing a maximum veteran extension for four years and $207.84 million.

In the fourth spot is Tyrese Haliburton, who signed a five-year, $260-million maximum contract extension in June of 2023 to stay in Indiana.

2018 draftees Luka Doncic and Trae Young share the fifth position, with each making just over $43 million per year. Both Doncic and Young signed five-year, $215.16M rookie maximum contract extensions with their respective teams in 2021. Luka Doncic was part of a shocking trade sending him to the Lakers while sending Anthony Davis to the Mavericks.

One of the biggest fallers in the rankings between 2024–25 and 2025–26 is Damian Lillard—but he could just as easily be listed as the top-earning point guard. That’s because when Milwaukee waived the injured star, it bought out the $113 million that remained on his contract and agreed to pay it over two seasons. While Dame re-signed with the Trail Blazers in the offseason for just under $14 million per year, he’ll get paid another $56 million by the Bucks in 2025–26 and 2026–27.

Another player whose value isn’t yet truly represented in the table is Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. His $35.86 million average annual compensation is good for 13th on the list—this year. The Thunder point guard agreed to a four-year, $285 million extension in July 2025, which will go into effect in 2027–28 after his current deal runs out. Assuming no other players sign for more before then, he’ll become the NBA’s only $70 million player.
