NFL, SiriusXM Extend Broadcast Agreement Another Five Years

  • Extension means SiriusXM will remain the third-party audio home of the NFL through Super Bowl LXI in 2027.
  • Subscribers with access to the SXM App will get more gameday content under the new deal.

The NFL and SiriusXM extended their broadcast agreement that began in 2004 for another five years. 

As part of the deal announced Tuesday morning, SiriusXM will continue to carry every NFL game as the official third-party audio provider in North America.

Financial terms of the deal were not announced. 

“SiriusXM continues to be an important part of the NFL family, providing fans access to live game audio as well as all the news and information around their favorite teams in addition to SiriusXM’s’ great 24/7, 365 League coverage on SiriusXM NFL Radio,” Brian Rolapp, the NFL’s chief media and business officer, said in a statement. 

SiriusXM had carried NFL content — mainly on the popular SiriusXM NFL Radio channel — for much of this year without a deal, which expired after Super Bowl LVI, industry sources told Front Office Sports. 

But there was little doubt that the two sides would agree to a deal before the upcoming season. 

“Since 2004 the NFL has been an important component of SiriusXM’s programming lineup as we deliver those fans exceptional access to all their favorite teams,” SiriusXM President and Chief Content Officer Scott Greenstein said in a statement. “We couldn’t be more pleased to now be expanding our relationship with the league, ensuring our listeners will continue to get comprehensive access to the NFL.”

The deal allows more content on the SXM App that offers a channel for every NFL team. 

Starting this upcoming season, SXM App will now provide pre- and post-game shows for each game. The dedicated team channels can also be accessed to SiriusXM subscribers with 360L-equipped radios.
