NFL legend Tom Brady has added yet another property to his burgeoning sports portfolio — this time, he’s venturing into an electric raceboat competition.
The seven-time Super Bowl champion, who officially retired earlier this year, signed on as a team owner in the UIM E1 World Championship. Brady joins a growing roster of other celebrity owners in the new competition including tennis great Rafael Nadal, Formula 1 driver Sergio Perez, and soccer legend Didier Drogba.
The racing series — which features top speeds of about 100 miles per hour and prioritizes environmental responsibility — will begin next year with a race in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
Brady’s move adds to a quickly growing set of business pursuits, including his health and wellness brand TB12, multiplatform production company 199 Productions, apparel brand BRADY, and NFT startup Autograph. On the franchise front, Brady has invested in a Major League Pickleball team and has equity stakes in the WNBA’s Las Vegas Aces and NFL’s Las Vegas Raiders — teams both owned by Mark Davis.
Additionally, Brady remains set to be a featured broadcaster on Fox Sports’ NFL coverage beginning in 2024.
In a statement part of the announcement of the new team, Brady continued his well-known obsession for winning: “My message to our competition: be prepared for second place because we are aiming for the top.”
