The NFL continues to steamroll everything else on television.
Fox Sports’ telecast of the New York Jets’ upset win over the Philadelphia Eagles averaged 26.085 million viewers.
That was up 3% over last year’s comparable game window. That number made Jets-Eagles the most-watched telecast of any kind on any network since Fox’s telecast of Super Bowl LVII.
Before kickoff, the matchup had the making of a ratings-grabber.
Fox aired Jets-Eagles in its highly-watched “America’s Game of the Week” Sunday afternoon window.
Heading into Sunday, the Eagles were one of two undefeated teams left in the NFL.
The New York and Philadelphia markets represent the No. 1 and No. 4 TV markets in the United States.
According to Nielsen, with the resilient 3-3 Jets bouncing back from Aaron Rodgers’s devastating leg injury, Gang Green has appeared in the three most-watched game windows this season.
(During warmups, Rodgers set the Jets home crowd ablaze by tossing a few throws on the field at MetLife Stadium).
Fox’s Jets-Eagles outpaced NBC Sports “Sunday Night Football” telecast of the Buffalo Bills win over the New York Giants, which averaged a total audience delivery of 18 million viewers.
Led by the Cleveland Browns upset over the previously undefeated San Francisco 49ers, Fox’s early Sunday was the third-most watched game window of Week 6, according to Sports Media Watch.
