As Luka Doncic’s stock continues to rise in the NBA, so too do the prices on his collectibles.
On Friday, a Doncic rookie patch autograph (RPA) card sold for $3.12 million with buyer’s premium — reportedly the highest amount ever paid for a basketball card at public auction.
The card — a 2018-19 National Treasures RPA Logoman, named for the NBA logo used from the player’s game-worn jersey — is signed by Doncic and numbered 1-of-1.
It’s reportedly the same card that sold in a private transaction for $4.6 million in March 2021 — at the time, the most-expensive basketball card ever.
PWCC, which ran the recent auction, was also responsible for brokering the sale of a LeBron James RPA for $5.2 million in April 2021 to become the priciest basketball card ever.
This was the first time the ultra-rare Luka card had hit the open market.
“This was an important moment for the market to decide on the value of Luka’s best trading card,” PWCC’s vice president of sales Jesse Craig said. “The card stood on its own merits [and] if you include private sales, Luka now sits between the high sales for LeBron and [Michael] Jordan. The market confirmed Luka is in rare air in terms of collectability with this sale.”
