Masters Gnome Craze Reaches New Level As Presales Hit $1,500

The frenzy around the popular Masters Gnome hit a new level this week.

After the tournament released a sneak peek of what this year’s souvenir garden gnome will look like—a patron holding a cup of coffee and a functioning Masters umbrella—a wildly expensive presale market has emerged on e-commerce sites.

The Masters Gnome, which costs $49.50 at the 2025 event, is only available on-site each April at the Augusta National golf shops, with purchases limited to one per patron. Since debuting in 2016, the Masters Gnome has become one of the most sought-after sports collectible items—last year, an original 2016 edition gnome sold for $10,195 at The Golf Auction.

Despite the Masters practice rounds not beginning until April 4, presale listings for the 2026 Masters Gnome have popped up on eBay, ranging from $725 to $1,500—the latter representing a 30x markup from the souvenir’s retail price.

Sellers are promising to ship the gnome to buyers directly from Augusta National, which does have options for patrons to ship the merchandise they bought at the Masters back home. Some sellers did similar transactions last year.

A more specialized website, Gnome Guys—which says it exclusively sells authentic Masters Merchandise—has pre-ordering available for the 2026 Masters Gnome at $700. As of Thursday, the site noted only four were still available. Gnome Guys also has pre-ordering for other 2026-branded Masters merch, although at much lower markups from retail prices.

Garden Party Over?

The 2025 edition of the Masters Gnome, a patron holding the tournament’s famous peach ice cream sandwich, can be bought for as cheap as $300 on eBay—a mere 6x markup from face value.

But Masters Gnome mania for this spring’s edition has been boosted by rumors that this will be the last year Augusta National sells the coveted keepsake.

The thinking is that the club doesn’t want to perpetuate the Black Friday-like craze that surrounds the gnomes at the tournament and on the resale market.

One Masters merchandising source told Golf Digest they were 95% sure this would be the last year the gnomes would be sold.

This year marks the 10th anniversary of the Masters Gnome’s debut in 2016, and the 10th edition overall, as they were not sold in 2017 before returning in 2018.
