Fresh off his third Super Bowl win with the Chiefs, Andy Reid earned more than just another Lombardi Trophy.

Reid became the highest-paid coach in the NFL after signing a new five-year extension in April.

The deal is reported to be worth $20 million per year, eclipsing the previous highest earner — Bill Belichick — before he left New England after the 2023 season. Reid’s Chiefs have become the newest NFL dynasty in recent years.

Now he’s getting paid in a way that represents their dominant status.

Reid is fourth all-time in wins (258) and fourth in games over .500 in his career (114).

Andy Reid is also the only coach on the list with multiple Super Bowl wins.

Second on the list is Denver Broncos head coach Sean Payton. His $18 million salary includes bonuses for performance.

Payton was the AP Coach of the Year in 2006 and won the Super Bowl in 2009 – both with the Saints.

Jim Harbaugh of the Chargers and Mike Tomlin of the Steelers are tied for third earning $16 million annually.

Jim Harbaugh made a high-profile return to the NFL this offseason to land him third on the list. He announced the move shortly after leading his alma mater Michigan to its first college football national championship since 1997.

Tomlin is the longest-tenured head coach in the NFL today in his 18th season for Pittsburgh. In his 18 seasons, he’s never had a losing season which is third all-time to Bill Belichick and Tom Landry.

Fifth on the list is Sean McVay, who has been with the Rams since 2017 and earns $15 million per year.

McVay was the youngest coach in the NFL when he was hired at just 30 years old in 2017. He won the Super Bowl with Los Angeles in 2021.

NFL coaches earn some of the highest salaries among the major sports. Seven of the top ten highest-paid coaches are NFL coaches.
